Proverbs 28 v 13

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper,
but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

(NIV)

The Unaccepted Gift

My lips say,
God have mercy on me.
Please have mercy on me.

Mercy pours out,
Before I ask,
As a gift freely given.

I resist.
My heart clings to the sin within,
Scared there’d be nothing left.

Who am I,
If not laden with wrong?
If not poison through and through?

What am I,
If not brimful of shame?
If not crimson with dark desire?

I am Yours.

I pray for courage
To accept the gift you offer.
